A more sustainable way to play
Padel is hard on equipment and on power. We've built two systems to cut both: a pressurizer that keeps balls in play for months instead of days, and a rooftop solar array that runs the courts on sunlight.
From three matches to fifty
Padel and tennis balls lose pressure fast, and most clubs bin them once they drop below regulation, often after one to three matches, while the rubber and felt still have plenty of life left. Multiply that by the roughly 360 million balls made worldwide every year, and the waste adds up fast.
Every training, coaching and rental ball at Bam Bam runs through a Pascal Box Pro XL, a 250-ball pressurizer built in Spain. It brings balls back to tournament pressure, 28 PSI for padel, and holds them there. Kept at the right pressure, a ball can last 50 matches or more instead of three.

Art and pets
Others go home with people who can use them: local artists working them into pieces, and owners who know a used padel ball beats a new one as a dog toy.

The sun covers the courts, with power to spare
Our 18.4 kWp rooftop solar system is tied to the grid, so nothing it generates goes to waste. On a typical Ubud day it produces more than enough to run every court light, and the surplus feeds the rest of the club, including the recovery spa.
Hot water for the spa and the showers runs the same way, from a solar water heater, instead of drawing on grid electricity.
Based on Ubud's solar output and Bali's grid mix, the array is estimated to generate around 25,000 kWh a year and offset roughly 19 tonnes of CO₂, about the same as taking four petrol cars off the road for a year. Over its 25-year life that's an estimated 476 tonnes avoided.
